Following the meeting of the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) on Wednesday 3rd May, a transfer of NHS commissioned adult physical health community services from Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCft) to East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) was confirmed. The two Trusts will now continue to work together to implement this over the next 12 months.

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is now working closely with ELHT to agree a timeframe with the ultimate aim to stabilise the services including difficulty in recruitment and supporting a more robust, consistent and sustainable offer for both Blackburn with Darwin (BwD) and East Lancashire patients.

The physical health community services in BwD are really well integrated with primary care and community service colleagues and all parties are committed to working closely together with the ICB Place Director to ensure this relationship continues.

The growth of community services in ELHT will allow for greater opportunities to improve quality and operational efficiency and productivity. Additionally, this will maximise the benefits of collaborative working partners and streamline processes to help us deliver the right care at the right time and the right place.
