Growing our nursing staff
The four acute trusts have collectively launched an 18-month training programme to support assistant practitioners to become registered nurses. The first cohort is due to graduate in January 2022. The programme supports career development for our existing workforce, maximising our local talent and boosting our nursing workforce.
Another initiative called ‘It’s Your Move’ has supported colleagues already working in our services to move into new roles across the system rather than have to reapply for jobs. This helps people to move, while keeping our skilled workforce within Lancashire and South Cumbria. Over a 12-month period, 50 colleagues were supported, which had a return on investment of £400,000.
